Day and Night

When the worlds were young, a man and a woman met. He was
strong, eyes of amber, hair like molten gold. She was lush, eyes like starshine and hair
of purest black. He could not stand the night and she could not take the day.
They met at dusk under a canopy of tall trees. They loved until dawn's light approached
and then with wistful looks parted until it was dusk once more.
He declared to her at their next meeting, that he could not bear to part from her again
and held her tightly. His love for her was such that as they clasped each other close he
melted into her, making them one.
The night did not end. She nurtured the life he left within her and in time brought forth
a shining boy child. When he came into being the night ended and he took his fathers place
in the day.... She took the night and the cycle began anew as time went on. Parted yet
never apart.
